Goals

I will work to help DISD become a real model for urban schools; a model based not just on test scores and state ratings, but on how we are preparing all of our children to take their places in the real world, for the rest of their lives.

I WILL WORK FOR :

• pre-school clubs and active PTAs in every school
• community and business involvement in every school
• education for parents about how they can help their children at home
• after-school programs for middle & high school children that provide a healthy alternative to boredom
• an analysis of DISD dropouts to determine their characteristics and identify at-risk students
• programs that recognize and address the needs of  those at-risk children
• a line item review of the budget to eliminate waste and non-essentials
• a review of district services and products to make sure we are getting the most for our money
• a budget review committee to identify and address problems before they become crises
